A lot has happened in five years, I've lost a brother, and several close relatives, but I guess that goes along with life. I am also retired from the AT&T store. I worked for my boss for a little over 21 years. WOW !!
Life has changed in the past 5 years, it really is strange not going to work every day. But I still have to get up and take my son to work. He volunteers at the Women Shelter Thrift store.
You would think i would find crafts to do or be creative with my time, but some times depression stops by and stays for a while.
They say Karma gets people who do bad things to you, but I just wish I could see it when it happens.........
Well, need to get off here, today is my youngest son's birthday, and he is so excited, of course every birthday is exciting for him.
Take care and God Bless everyone.4angelshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03952641572990116513noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23025258.post-67118399542892499302015-08-31T09:09:00.002-07:002015-08-31T09:09:53.891-07:00

But I mostly check my facebook, myspace even suffers......lol
Well, at work the boss has every site blocked or just about every site. So if you have your work done, you better find something else to do besides sit on your computer.
We finally get to sell the iphone, but now that we get too our boss doesn't want us too. Crazy, Crazy, Crazy, says we don't get paid for selling it so we are actually loosing money by selling them. Life in a small town AT&T store.
We are going to get to go visit kids and grandkids this week end, get to watch baseball game and soccer game, yeah.
Not awhole lot going on here, just the same ole thing.
I am finally going to take Patrick back to the doctor for his hip, he had a hip replacement last year and now it is giving him problems. Hopefully it's not anything serious.
Guess I will try to get back here sooner and try to keep up with this blog better than I have been.4angelshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03952641572990116513noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23025258.post-52231504965132010852010-07-06T13:54:00.000-07:002010-07-06T14:14:31.180-07:00Hello!It has been a really really long time since I have posted anything on here. Wow!!!
Hope everyone had a good and safe 4th of July, we had a full day. We went to church Sunday morning and the main guy from the Strength Team came to visit, so he and my pastor (who traveled with the strength team some) did a few feats of strength. I think everyone there had a good time. After church we went out to my sister's for hamburgers and hot dogs with all the trimmings. Was very good, or maybe I was just hungry. LOL We left her house and went back to church for some fellowship and more hamburgers and hot dogs. I wasn't quite hungry yet so I ate desert, ummmmmmm.
Patrick didn't want to stay at the church and watch the fireworks that were going on downtown, so we took our chairs and went down to the park where everyone in town was gathered, and sat out and watched the fireworks over Nacogdoches. It was all good, except the older I get the more I don't like crowds.............. Yiks............!!
Had Monday off from work, was going to sleep late and then unpack more boxes, but of course it didn't turn out that way. Yes I got to sleep late, but on of my other sister's called and asked me to take her and one of her grandsons to Shreveport to the Hospital over there. Apparently the grandson who is only 18 months old got burned with some fireworks the night before. Poor baby he was hurting so bad. No one was watching him and he was outside with the other kids and one of the fireworks landed on his stomach and he must have tried to knock it off with his arm because his tummy and arm got burned really bad. He still needs to go to a special Burn doctor. Parents like that do not need children. Not the first of this mothers children that has been burned. This makes three, he was the second one burned by fireworks. And one that was held over an open fire and dropped on his head. Not good,at all.
Well, back to work today and we are really slow, but that just means I can get my work done.
Not much else here in this small town, so until next time.4angelshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03952641572990116513noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23025258.post-14516266764165918752009-10-14T09:57:00.000-07:002009-10-14T10:28:16.768-07:00Good Morning !!It's been a while since I've been on here, so thought I better see what is going on.
Since there is MYSPACE and FACEBOOK I don't know if anyone still reads the blogs.

There are many stories about accidents with the game WII, well, I can actually say that if you are not careful you can hurt yourself, as I did. My son and I were bowling and instead of standing to throw the ball I was sitting in my chair. My chair has an angel blanket thrown over the back of it. When I put my arm back to throw the ball, the controller got caught up in the blanket and twisted my wrist backwards. OUCH !! And of course the controller went flying forward. NO, no strike...
but I thought I broke my wrist it hurt so bad. I put an ice pack on it right away.
I didn't go to the ER, because I don't trust those people after my experience with Patrick and his broken hip. (that's another horror story). I kept my wrist wrapped in an ace bandage until Monday and I called my doctor to see if they could work me in. Thank goodness they did. They took X-rays of my wrist and NO BROKEN bones. Just pulled tendons and ligaments. So the doctor told me to wear a wrist brace for a while and rest my hand and wrist. Of course I am right handed and it was my right hand. There are a lot of things that are really hard to do with my left hand. LOL
So word of advise if you have a WII be careful !!

Been a little down lately, one of our long time friends passed away last Friday. We went to see her about a week before that and she didn't even know we were there. She had cancer all over her body. There isn't going to be a funeral for her, they are going to have her cremated, and then have a memorial at the cemetery where her husband is buried. They will put her ashes at the foot of his grave with a marker.

Guess that's all that's going on in this small town.4angelshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03952641572990116513noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23025258.post-8462121922379470162009-10-01T15:41:00.000-07:002009-10-01T15:54:47.069-07:0010 Commandments of Permanent Fat Removal1. On 9/11 he and 13 other firefighters assigned to that house died. This is to pay tribute to a wonderful man.
He was a Husband, Father and a dear friend. Everyone liked him, he was easy to get along with. He loved Disney World.

When Scott A. Larsen finished a shift at the firehouse — "He was very good with the tools; he fit right into the place," said Brian Cleary, his friend from Ladder Company 163 — off he'd go in pursuit of more activity, usually with his three children. He outfitted them with Rollerblades, and got them onto their bicycles on summer days. He could spend an entire day at the beach, then fix dinner on the grill. During the midwinter school break, he packed everyone into the car and drove from their home in Glendale, Queens, to Disney World, stopping to spend the night in North Carolina, to buy sparklers in South Carolina, to sample as many Dairy Queens as possible below the Mason-Dixon line.

It meant 12 hours of driving at a stretch, but he loved it. On arrival, Firefighter Larsen, who was 35, headed for Space Mountain, where he usually rode solo. "He'd try to convince the kids to go on it," said his wife, Carolann. "Once he bribed them with a stuffed animal. They came off scared like anything."

His wife, Carolann was pregnant at the time of 9/11. Two days later September 13 she gave birth to another son. She named him "August" after her husband's father, the name Scott wanted. The other children are Marisa, 9; Brenda, 8; and Scott, 5.

Here is one of the entries of his guest book to his family:

December 26, 2001
We thank Scott for dedicating his life to helping others as a firefighter. Such dedication comes with a heart full of warmth, caring and love for his fellow man. May his courage, kindness, life and love live on through those who love him and those who have been touched by his life. We are deeply sorry for your loss of Scott. Our hearts cry with you.
America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you.
Teresa Jahn (Dixon, IL )

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is also a Fireman's Prayer I would like to share with you:

A Fire Fighter's Prayer

When I'm called to duty, God
wherever flames may rage.
Grant me the strength to save a life
whatever be its age.

Help me to embrace a little child
before it is too late.
Or save an older person
from the horror of that fate.

Enable me to be alert
to hear the weakest shout.
And quickly and efficiently
put the fire out.

I want to fill my calling, Lord
and give the best in me.
To guard my every neighbor and
protect his property.

And if according to your will
I am to lose my life.
God bless with your protecting hand
my children and my wife.

~Author Unknown~

This article is about a Firetruck that is being redone in honor of our fallen firefighters.

Restored Fire Truck Honors Firefighter Who Started It
By Amanda Farinacci

The appropriately named Engine 911, which was unveiled at the South Street Seaport Sunday, is a restored 1962 Ford F-600 fire truck that started with the dream of fallen firefighter Eric Olsen.

Olsen is one of fourteen firefighters from Engine 4, Ladder 15 who died in the World Trade Center attack. A self-proclaimed car buff, Olsen purchased the then badly beat-up truck, and planned to use it while working his side-jobs.

“He would park the truck in the parking lot,” recalled fellow firefighter Steve Fucile, “and there's a homeless guy who's probably been across the street as long as I’ve been in this firehouse, and he started using this as his house. So every morning Eric would go across the street, start the truck, wake him up. He'd take his stuff out, and Eric would go to work. And this was just an ongoing thing. If he thinks he's sleeping in this thing now, the rent's gone up.”

In a restoration project that began in October 2002, firefighters from the Milford Township Fire Department in Pennsylvania took on the task of fixing up the truck. They added new compartments, welded new steel and painstakingly hand-painted every word on the old rig.

On the back is a bell of remembrance in honor of the six fallen firefighters who were members of the FDNY Viking Society. The truck is meant to educate about fire safety and to tell the story of the September 11 attacks.

“Time is passing so quickly and people are forgetting,” said Larry Roeder, one of the Milford firefighters. “And it's important to put together tributes like this and bring them back in time to give people a reason to remember, to give people a reason not to forget.”

“It's a really great thing that they did,” said Carolann Larsen, whose husband died in the attacks. “It's a nice remembrance for all of them to have their names on it; i think it's great.

The truck will make its temporary home at the Snug Harbor Cultural Center on Staten Island, with the hope that it will one day go on display at the Fire Safety Museum.4angelshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03952641572990116513noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23025258.post-14634947042648522302009-09-02T14:14:00.000-07:002009-09-02T14:19:51.708-07:00Only a WeekWe are going to post tributes to people who died on 9/11 and it's not much time to get the stuff together. I will be reposting the same person I did in 2006, and hopefully some one else. Just waiting for the name from the guy who is setting this up. I think this is an awesome thing, to remind every one not to forget the loved onees that were lost. So if any one out there wants to join in the website is: http://project2996.wordpress.com/

So until next time, that is what's happen'n in a small town.4angelshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03952641572990116513noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23025258.post-4569084537265069782009-07-22T14:43:00.000-07:002009-07-22T15:30:43.483-07:00"Guess who"Well, let's see it's been such a long time since I've been on here, so let's see what's been going on!! I use to work on North St. at one of locations, but was moved to our South St location, so I could get some problems under control that was going on there. After a year or so of me being there we got a better location for our store so we moved on March 1, 2009, now we are on University Dr. it is such a nicer store and much bigger.

When we were at the other location on south St. right before we moved we had quite an exciting incident........ We had a customer and his wife and three small children came into the store. The man was yelling at his wife even before he came in. So when they got into the store he kept yelling at her to get thier account fixed, or get his money back. They had a prepaid account and wanted free night and week ends. When they were in the store before they were told they had to call customer service and have them to add it to thier account. Well, apparently they had used up thier minutes and didn't have the $19.99 on thier phone to add the night and week ends.
So they thought that we owed them more minutes. NOT!!! So the guy starts cussing and getting out of control. He calls our manager, Tom, some names, and then he starts to reach under his shirt in the back and says "you want me to take this out".
I got so scared that I tried to call 911 and had a hard time calling them, on our phones you have to dial a 9 to get an outside line, so I was really having a time. The police got there pretty quick, by the time they got there Tom had gotten the guy outside, and was trying to get the guy to hit him so he would have an excuse to hit him back. Boy what a time...... Apparently the guy had gotten out of jail not to long before that. So the police took him back to jail. There was a lady police that came with them and she came in and asked me some questions about what happened, and if we wanted to press charges, which we didn't. We just told her we didn't want him to ever to come back to our store.

Now that we are on University Dr. we haven't had any problems here, but there have been some police over at the business beside us.

Well, guess I better get off here for now I will try to write more later this evening.4angelshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03952641572990116513noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23025258.post-64188569679645258622008-12-16T10:28:00.001-08:002008-12-16T13:04:46.853-08:00OK areadyWell, I have been wanting to get back on here for some time now. We had some excitement at my work last week, and I just wanted to share.

We had a young man come in and one of the salespersons was waiting on him, when he said he needed to go outside for a minute. We looked out side and saw that there were two police cars in our parking lot, and they were looking in the guys car. He had two other guys sitting in the car waiting on him. The police searched the car, had the other guys get out of the car and they searched all three of them. Then another police car pulled up. WOW, we're thinking "what is going on". They were out there for a while. Finally the young man came back in and told us that the police had followed them from the pawn shop, where they had tried to pawn a rifle. The rifle was registered. One of the guys had just finished smoking a dubbie, and the other guy apparently stuck some dope in his mouth so the police wouldn't find it. They ended up taking the one smoking to jail, he was only going to have to stay for about 4 hours.
While we were waiting I took some pictures with my phone. They came out pretty good. we have some snowflakes on the windows so it was a little hard to get real good ones. Here they are:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_7WPJk0L3Wzg/SUf6W9qpODI/AAAAAAAAAE4/VCrDOPoWd3s/s320/12-01-08_1631.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5280464360532686898" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7WPJk0L3Wzg/SUgXvkML97I/AAAAAAAAAFA/GpzbmaaaVuI/s320/12-01-08_1633.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5280496669027989426" />4angelshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03952641572990116513noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23025258.post-6285372835307860332008-07-31T21:57:00.000-07:002008-07-31T22:58:57.950-07:00IN MEMORY OF ERIC EAKSHello, again.
well here I am in California, yeah, surprise, since we were just out here in June for my best girlfriends 60th birthday.
Well I recieved a phone call from this same best friend last Thursday the 23th of July. She told me her grandson(whom we have know his whole life)he turned 18 March 1st. that he had died. She was devasated and asked me if I could come out and be with her through this time of sorrow.

So of course I knew I had to be here with her and her family, by the way we have know each other over 30 years, and our kids were small together.

It has been an experience that I hope no one else has to go through.
One of Eric's friends made a dvd and put it on youtube, so I thought I would put it up here on the blog. Eric was a wonderful boy, or should I say man. He just graduated in June from High School and was signed up to go to college in September.
He had so much going for him, or so it seemed.........

But there were darker things going on with Eric which no one knew...........
He hanged him self in a building in the back of their house. And his father came home from the movies and found him. Of course they took him to the hospital and tried to revive him with no luck. So you see why it is so hard for this family now.

I ask that you all keep them in your prayers.
And may God Bless you all.
And this is not in a small town.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_7WPJk0L3Wzg/SJKl0KBgWGI/AAAAAAAAADg/s1yGQUzbN-w/s320/945257053_m%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5229424432793016418" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_7WPJk0L3Wzg/SJKmAnu1ozI/AAAAAAAAADo/jW79fTtR7qw/s320/m_27cffeeb447e25f7664c023e87e4b015%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5229424646926213938" />
ERIC ANTHONY EAKS was born March 1, 1990 at Weiler/ Einstein Hospital in New York (Bronx Country), New York. Sorry......

Last Sunday, July 20th, was home coming week-end at the church we went to when we were growing up. It's the third Sunday of July every year. It was enjoyable, they had a couple of pastors there that had preached there before, so they got up and said a few words. They usually have a different music group there every year. This year they had a group with three guys named "HIs Song" they were really good. We bought one of there CD's Here is a picture of them.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_7WPJk0L3Wzg/SIj-BbBQ1pI/AAAAAAAAADY/UcKQyoRYf-A/s320/07-20-08_1402.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5226706667949840018" />
I'm not so sure about next year, just about all of the people I knew back in the day are all gone, and don't come back for the home coming. But the FOOD was good! I have another picture of Patrick with the music group that I will try to add later.4angelshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03952641572990116513noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23025258.post-32171268848473528532008-07-18T15:42:00.000-07:002008-07-18T15:59:12.111-07:00HELLO, AGAIN!!Hello, you probably was not expecting me this soon, uh?? Just sitting here at work and thought I would catch some of you up on the news at my work.
First we had two sales persons stealing from the company...just over a few months they had stolen around $10,000.00 dollars of merchandise. Yeah, they got caught and had to pay back the money or go to jail, so they paid back the money. I know, our boss is really being good because he didn't have them put in jail.

So we lost two sales persons in our one location which made it difficult, because we had to send sales persons from some of our other locations to cover. A-N-D then we had one of our sales persons not come to work, oh, he called in said he had food poisoning, that was the first day he missed. Then he didn't come in or call, so we assumed he quit. That makes us even more short on sales persons. Well, one of the two sales persons that is usually at my store calls in and says her grandfather has had a heart attach and she has to go to Mexico. So she calls in a couple of days and the last time she called in she was on her way back home. So we think she will be back to work the next day, right? NOT....and we haven't heard from her yet. She text ed one of the sales persons and told him she was in Shreveport, and she was joining the Army next week. Well, a couple of us knew she was thinking about joining the Army but not this soon. Wow, who next. Our sales persons are getting less and less. And our boss isn't sure what is going to happen to our business so he is not hiring any more sales persons yet. Pretty scary, not knowing if we are going to have a job or not.

Well, guess I better get off here for now, will be back soon.
And that's what is happening in a small town...4angelshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03952641572990116513noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23025258.post-84119105713681309902008-07-11T14:57:00.000-07:002008-07-11T15:12:44.526-07:00The New iPhoneToday the new iphone came out. Well, since I am in the cell phone business this was a concern for my company. Since we are just Agents for AT&T we are not allowed to sell it. So of course todays news was about all the people waiting to get the new iphone. There were people camping out in some places like New York, Canada and Japan. Even the corp. store in the town near us had people lined up out front before they opened today. And they ran out of the iphones before everyone got one.

Not only that they were having problems with activating them and telling the cust to go home and finish activation on their own computer. GREAT!!!!

I am going to try to add some of the pictures of people waiting to get their iphones.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_7WPJk0L3Wzg/SHfYsDg8zzI/AAAAAAAAACw/0yASiYTgFWg/s320/capt_2bb51780f5d84fff9d1061cc515fd9d3_japan_iphone_ksx108.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5221880544328732466" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_7WPJk0L3Wzg/SHfY8ROFqQI/AAAAAAAAAC4/drBtka37k7Y/s320/capt_280a4f92e3234c85a3f11ab1820b1420_aptopix_apple_iphone_lst104.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5221880822885624066" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_7WPJk0L3Wzg/SHfZWjU8FlI/AAAAAAAAADA/y9aTZ_wFVAk/s320/r3832822336.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5221881274422793810" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_7WPJk0L3Wzg/SHfaJlqXNQI/AAAAAAAAADI/8g6jKxtJwtw/s320/media1.JPEG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5221882151222850818" />

This is the line at the store in the town near us.
And that is what is happening in a small town..........4angelshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03952641572990116513noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23025258.post-43806727370783200162008-07-10T15:26:00.000-07:002008-07-10T22:27:46.741-07:00SURPRISE, SURPRISE, SURPRISE!!!!!!WELL, I THINK IT HAS BEEN JUST ABOUT A YEAR SINCE I'VE BEEN ON HERE. Patrick has had a kidney infection and still fighting with his nose. He went back to the doctor today and the infection is supposedly cleared up, Thank you Jesus!!!!! Since he only has one kidney I get kinda' nervous when there is a problem. So he is suppose to drink lots of fluids.
I had to go for my weight check up and unfortunately I didn't loose any weight. I have started walking in the evenings, and one of my knees is giving me problems, so I told the doctor about it and he had it x-rayed to find the cushion between the bones is slowly disappearing. So he changed my arthritis medicine, so maybe the pain won't be so bad. I also finally went for my female check-up. And of course since I am getting older he wants me to take a few more test, like mammogram, colon scope, and bone density. Wow it's rough getting old. LOL

This past week-end we went up to John and Jenny's and on Sunday we went to a lake where you can feed the fish and ducks. So we took bread and crackers to feed them and the kids had fun. I took some pictures and a couple of videos which I will try to put on here. It was really wild how the fish would just pile up on each other trying to get the food. And the ducks would walk right on top of the fish trying to get them something to eat. So after we ran out of bread and crackers John and Lacye tried to touch the fish, or John tried to grab one by the tail. The fish were too fast. It was quite funny. So now for the pictures and videos.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_7WPJk0L3Wzg/Rp8DjifT9jI/AAAAAAAAACI/wCfIT5WBq1c/s320/ducks+walking+on+fish.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5088790013040391730" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_7WPJk0L3Wzg/Rp8FsifT9kI/AAAAAAAAACQ/bXOaJAM6kVY/s320/lots+and+lots+of+fish.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5088792366682469954" />

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_7WPJk0L3Wzg/Rp8GJCfT9lI/AAAAAAAAACY/wHnBg1_k_X8/s320/johnnie+feeding+fish.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5088792856308741714" />

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_7WPJk0L3Wzg/Rp8GYSfT9mI/AAAAAAAAACg/gl4YXu6rIzw/s320/lacye+feeding+fish+2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5088793118301746786" />

Well, couldn't get the video to down load, will try later and see if I can get it. She had to repeat the
>words
> several times before the patient's eyes opened.
>
> Heavily sedated because of the pain of his heart attack, he dimly saw
>the
> young uniformed Marine standing outside the oxygen tent. He reached
>out
> his hand. The Marine wrapped his toughened fingers around the old
>man's
> limp ones, squeezing a message of love and encouragement.
>
> The nurse brought a chair so that the Marine could sit beside the bed.
>All
> through the night the young Marine sat there in the poorly lighted
>ward,
> holding the old man's hand and offering him words of love and
>strength.
> Occasionally, the nurse suggested that the Marine move away and
>rest
> awhile. He refused. Whenever the nurse came into the ward, the Marine
>was
> oblivious of her and of the night noises of the hospital - the
>clanking of
> the oxygen tank, the laughter of the night staff members
>exchanging
> greetings, the cries and moans of the other patients.
>
> Now and then she heard him say a few gentle words. The dying man
>said
> nothing, only held tightly to his son all through the night.
>
> Along towards dawn, the old man died. The Marine released the now
>lifeless
> hand he had been holding and went to tell the nurse. While she did
>what
> she had to do, he waited.
>
> Finally, she returned. She started to offer words of sympathy, but
>the
> Marine interrupted her. "Who was that man?" he asked. The nurse
>was
> startled, "He was your father," she answered. "No, he wasn't," the
>Marine
> replied. "I never saw him before in my life."
>
> "Then why didn't you say something when I took you to him?"
>
> "I knew right away there had been a mistake, but I also knew he needed
>his
> son, and his
> son just wasn't here. When I realized that he was too sick to tell
>whether
> or not I was his son, knowing how much he needed me, I stayed."
>
> The next time someone needs you ... just be there. Stay.
>
> WE ARE NOT HUMAN BEINGS GOING THROUGH A
> TEMPORARY SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE.
>
> WE ARE SPIRITUAL BEINGS GOING THROUGH A
> TEMPORARY HUMAN EXPERIENCE.
>
>
> THIS IS WHAT WE ARE PUT ON THIS EARTH TO DO ANYWAY. We really didn't do much, we went to three shows that were pretty good, and then we just kinda' shopped and drove around on the main road and took pictures of some of the interesting buildings. The shows we saw were the Presleys, NO it has nothing to do with Elvis, it's a family with the last name of Presley and they do a show with singing and a couple of them are the funny ones. Patrick got autographs and pictures with some of them. We also went to a magic show, and it's amazing how they do things that look so real. Wow, sawing a woman into, actually it was two women and then they put the leg part back on the opposite woman...
Explain that one. We stayed in a Condo, was nice, Patrick stayed in the pool alot if we were at the condo and not running around. We were right across the street from the Winery, which had free tours. Yes we took the tour, TWICE. You get to taste the wine on the tour, and they explain about each flavor you taste. Yummmmmmmmm
Here are some pictures I took.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_7WPJk0L3Wzg/RoNSGt4uzyI/AAAAAAAAABw/PLA03w6PKu8/s320/patrick+and+the+funny+presleys.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5080995079954288418" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_7WPJk0L3Wzg/RoNSZN4uzzI/AAAAAAAAAB4/com9_whv5UQ/s320/patrick+and+the+presley+women.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5080995397781868338" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_7WPJk0L3Wzg/RoNSot4uz0I/AAAAAAAAACA/JAgs9WBwHt4/s320/gaylon+rosie+bill+and+linda.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5080995664069840706" />
We were there a week and then of course we had to come home and I had to go back to work. Oh, well, guess I will still blog about them.

One of our friends from our church got killed May 14th, I know that has been a little while ago, but I wanted to post a memorial for him. Patrick was pretty close to him, and he still talks about how they did their hand shake and thats how they bonded. And how Toney was his friend. He was 47 years old and had his whole life ahead of him, but I guess it was time for him to go home to Heaven. We just never know when it's our time to be called home. So I just pray that every one prepares themselves and is ready and lives as though today may be our last.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_7WPJk0L3Wzg/RoNOAN4uzuI/AAAAAAAAABQ/q0f5gpboru8/s320/toney+obit.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5080990570238627554" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_7WPJk0L3Wzg/RoNOU94uzvI/AAAAAAAAABY/--xsY5ftDuE/s320/tony+and+patrick.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5080990926720913138" />
This is a picture of Patrick and Toney after one of the Strength Team Events. With having a MySpace now, it's hard to remember to come on here and blog too. Everything is going good, I guess. We had a friend get killed in an 18 wheeler accident. He drove a truck for his job, and apparently fell asleep at the wheel. We had a memorial service for him on Friday evening, and then he was buried in Camden just below Corrigan. He went to Church with us and was a special friend, especially to Patrick.

Guess we will be going on vacation next week with my sister, brother-in-law and brother. We are going to Branson, Missouri. We went up there a few years ago, and we had fun. So I am really looking forward to going and getting away from work and Nac of No Where.

Speaking of work, boy, did we have drama today. I thought we were going to have to call the police!!! We had a customer come in and wanted to do an upgrade on her phone, which she was not eligible at this time. She brought her boyfriend, and her sister and mother showed up also. The account was actually in the mother's name, so she was the only one really who could sign the contract and everything if the daughter was eligible. Any ways the boyfriend started to ask a bunch of questions and the salesperson, which happened to be Reagan, told him if he would just listen he was explaining to them what was going on. The boyfriend got his drawers in a wad and started talking ugly to Reagan using the "F" word. So the girlfriend tells him to leave and we thought he was gone, But he came back. He got up in Reagan's face and telling him he shouldn't be talking to him like he was stupid, and thought Reagan needed to apologize, so Reagan didn't back down, he took off his glasses and told the boy to take it outside. The boy called Reagan a 60 year old man that had to work at a low type job. First Reagan isn't 60. And he is actually the store manager.
Well, they took it outside, and we thought we were going to call the police, but Susan went out and convinced Reagan to just come back into the store. The mother finally got the daughter to get her boyfriend in the car and leave. Whew!!!!!!
Then the mother tells Susan and me that she can't stand the guy but her daughter has been dating him for a while and she sure hopes they don't get married. That he is always acting that way. That was the only excitement we had today, but that was enough. Maybe tomorrow will be calmer.

Well, that's all for now. I'll try not to wait so long next time.
And that's life in a small town.4angelshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03952641572990116513noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23025258.post-25534033312145122252007-04-18T23:22:00.000-07:002007-04-18T23:29:09.279-07:00'American Idol' says sayonara to SanjayaWell, people, your voting this week was not quite good enough. Sanjaya is gone!!!!!
Here is the story......

NEW YORK - Sanjaya Malakar, the under-talented but unflappable singer who horrified and captivated millions in his improbable "American Idol" run, was finally voted off the show Wednesday night. When the result was announced, Malakar wiped away tears and got a big hug from LaKisha Jones, the next lowest vote-getter. "I'm fine," he told Ryan Seacrest. "It was an amazing experience."

"I can promise you: We won't soon forget you," Seacrest replied.

Malakar then performed one last song, "Something To Talk About." Putting his own twist on the song, the 17-year-old known for his pretty looks and ever-changing hairstyles ad-libbed: "Let's give them something to talk about ... other than hair."

On Tuesday night's show, Simon Cowell had slammed his performance as "utterly horrendous." And for once, the notoriously mean judge was vindicated.

"I'm beginning to sense something here," a grinning Cowell said when Malakar wound up in the bottom three.

Six contestants are now left: Jones, Blake Lewis, Jordin Sparks, Chris Richardson, Melinda Doolittle and Phil Stacey.

Malakar was routinely savaged by Cowell as he developed into one of the weakest, most awkward "Idol" finalists ever. Still, the gangly teen managed to outlast better singers by cultivating an unlikely fan base that helped him survive round after round of viewer elimination.

Though his breathy, childlike singing voice paled in comparison with other finalists, his ability to stand out kept him in the competition. He consistently delivered the season's most talked-about performances, even daring to sport a ponytail mohawk that added pizazz to an otherwise tepid rendition of No Doubt's "Bathwater."

That, of course, wound up fodder for watercooler discussion on G-rated morning programs and smart-alecky Web sites, stoking suspicion that Malakar was self-consciously manipulating the media to carve a place in "American Idol" history.

Many had predicted that he would make it all the way to May finale. Among Malakar's supporters: radio shock jock Howard Stern and the Web site VotefortheWorst.com, which has long promoted the show's tone-deaf candidates. (Previous targets include surly Scott Savol and sweet-natured Kevin Covais. Cult superstar William Hung never even made it to Hollywood.)

Malakar also had the backing of friends and family in his home state of Washington. "He's very handsome. That's most of it," marveled his friend Pat Wright, a gospel choir director in Seattle. "He's a teenager, and young girls and guys really like him."

Malakar seemed buoyed by his widespread fame.

"Welcome to the universe of Sanjaya!" he proudly proclaimed on a recent telecast, following a backhanded compliment from an exasperated Cowell.

Indeed, after panning another of Malakar's performances, Cowell threw up his arms and said there was nothing he could say to prevent people from voting for the oddball-turned-national phenomenon.

But, in the end, Malakar could not win enough votes to join the ranks of Taylor Hicks,
Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.

He will, however, live forever on YouTube.

So there you have it.
And that's life in a small town.....4angelshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03952641572990116513noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23025258.post-46447649033008004252007-04-10T20:56:00.000-07:002007-04-10T21:50:06.093-07:00Always DRAMAAt my work there is always some kind of drama going on, it's like watching "The Days of our Lives, at Branch-Patton Cingular". This morning Bonnie was late again (nothing new)and after she gets clocked in and everthing, she starts asking everyone if they have heard the rumor, and that's all it is, that her and Juan (another salesperson) have been dating and kissing and etc. Of course Juan is there today too, and he says he hasn't heard anyone say anything about it. Now Josh, was asking Juan about it, says someone asked him about it, but Josh won't tell who started the rumor!! The only story I heard was that Bonnie was at the "Cowboy" in Lufkin one night and she sees Juan across the room still in his work shirt. She said she went over and spoke to him but that was all, she was there with a group of people. So I guess that is where that rumor got started.

I sit in back of the office, and the desk that is in front of me is an extra desk, in case we have a full staff then it is used. Some times some of the salespersons will sit there and turn around and talk to me. One thing our boss, Bill, doesn't like is for some one to sit there and talk to me. He thinks I can't get my work done. Hello!! I haven't NOT gotten it done yet. So he wrote a note to Susan one of my co-workers who sits in back also and does paper work, asking her what she thought about putting a 3' divider in front of my desk, so no one could talk to me. What a JOKE.
I told Susan to tell him sure, I will be coming in late tomorrow so have some one to put it up before I get there. It will block my view from the customers coming in the front door, so I will have an excuse NOT to get up and wait on them. I can keep doing my work.....LOL I told my co-workers (who by the way stand around and talk to each other all the time) that I will just start taking my breaks and come up front to their desk and talk to them. Even Susan gets to visit, why shouldn't I?????????

Well, now that is off my chest.
Can you believe it SNOW on EASTER......It was wild, we had an egg hunt in the house because it was to cold and snowy outside. The kids had a good time looking for them.
My son and his family came in and we had some friends and their son over for dinner and egg hunt. It was a good time all around.
We played some games, I never used to like to play table games that much, but now that I have been playing lately, I think I am enjoying it. Guess I just didn't know what I was missing. A lot of laughing and cutting up.
I took a few pictures of the snow and the kids after they painted the eggs, I'll see if I can put a couple on here. There was some trees that got covered with the snow that looked just breath taking I will try to put that one on here. So here goes!!!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_7WPJk0L3Wzg/RhxloBEyeKI/AAAAAAAAAAw/_vqyIoM7_yw/s320/snow+on+the+trees.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5052024620160546978" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_7WPJk0L3Wzg/RhxmMBEyeLI/AAAAAAAAAA4/Jwx_X-fLJOQ/s320/show+me+your+hands+caleb.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5052025238635837618" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_7WPJk0L3Wzg/RhxmWhEyeMI/AAAAAAAAABA/h9SrQ24CCzg/s320/show+me+your+hands+johnnie.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5052025419024464066" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_7WPJk0L3Wzg/RhxmhxEyeNI/AAAAAAAAABI/6Vru_Z05kP8/s320/show+me+your+hands+lacye.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5052025612297992402" />4angelshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03952641572990116513noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23025258.post-1445045604346818902007-04-05T23:06:00.000-07:002007-04-05T23:24:21.569-07:00This was NO April Fools JokeToday I took Patrick back to the doctor (ear, nose, and throat specialist)for a follow up on his staph infection in his nose. He asked if we had a regular doctor and I told him we did, he said maybe we needed to go back to him, because he didn't know what else he could do for us??????? Then he said there was one more medicine he could prescribe but it cost $1005.00 for basically 20 pills. MUST BE SOME REALLY GOOD PILLS. I told him I couldn't afford that kind of price. So he checked Patrick's records and said well he's on Medicaid,and I told him his card was already full for this month, since he is only allowed 3 prescriptions each month, and he already takes 4 prescriptions each month, which means I have to pay for one every month. So he said that he would write out the prescription and we could try to fill it the first prescription of May, if Medicaid will pay for it. He said the only other solution would be for Patrick to be put in the hospital for 10 days with an I-V hooked up to him with medicine. What choices!!!!!!

Seems like there is alway something trying to pull you down, but I guess if we look around at other people we can always find some one worst than we are.

So on a cheerier note, my kids and grandkids are coming in tomorrow for the week-end and will be here to celebrate Easter. Not the traditional Ham and trimmings dinner, but my special enchiladas. And my friend and her husband and son are coming over too, so the kids will color the easter eggs and then we will hide them so they can have an easter egg hunt. It's going to be so much fun. Of course it's suppose to be rainy and cold. We may have to hide them in the house, but that's ok, the kids are little, ages 7, 4 and 2,so it will still be fun.

Thank God it is Friday tomorrow, it seems like this week has been so long.I am ready for the week-end.
Hopefully I will have pictures to post after the week-end of the kids and their egg hunt and coloring the eggs. So I'll post again later.

And that's life in a small town4angelshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03952641572990116513noreply@blogger.com0
